A Change Of Plans

The are two keys to maximizing award travel: flexibility and patience. Most of the time you end up with a travel nightmare when you try and apply award flexibility to your rigid PTO schedule. Well that's exactly what happened to me last week...

In the midst of closing in on my "Great Western Excursion," we found out the Elizabeth won't have enough PTO built up by the end of September. I can't even slide the trip back few weeks because we've got some family plans. Even if we didn't have plans redemption rates would be through the roof by then!

Am I EXTREMELY bummed that were not going to China anymore? Yes, but I'm a firm believer that everything works out for a reason.

Now my focus has shifted to late November, or early December. We'll have about a 10 day window to work with, so my initials thoughts were a trip to Australia and New Zealand.

It'll be back to cold weather by then, so we'd like to go somewhere warm. I'm still throwing ideas around, so feel free to make some suggestions!

In the meantime Elizabeth and I will be heading to an undisclosed location (another surprise trip) in July, Minneapolis in August, and Chicago in September.

I may have a replacement trip in the works for late September too. This trip would involve a very special guest and a place that's seen a lot of global headlines lately...

Any guesses?

Stay tuned for more!
