The power of the Olympic Games is truly amazing. It's almost like the entire world can exhale and finally enjoy itself for once. Political indifferences are put aside and even the harshest of enemies can join hands, like we saw this year with North and South Korea. For those two weeks everyone can look past the differences that set us apart as nations and focus on what brings us together as human beings.
If you haven't guessed it already, I'm a HUGE fan of the Olympics. Not just for the reasons mentioned above, but because I love cheering on the USA. I'm not even a competitor and I get goosebumps when they play the National Anthem each time one of our athletes is atop the podium.
Since my family has spent the past couple of days huddled together cheering on the red, white and blue, we've decided it's in our best interest to go to Tokyo for the 2020 summer games! Yes, it's a long way off, but it's never too early to start planning. I've even set a reminder in my phone so I can buy our plane tickets when they go on sale next summer.
I haven't actually looked into getting tickets for the opening ceremonies or any of the events, but that'll be my next task. Does anyone know how you even buy them? Are there any available? I don't have a clue. One thing I do know is that I'll be in Tokyo sporting the stars and stripes!
The Olympic Games are arguably the biggest sporting event in the entire world. Going to Tokyo for the 2020 games could truly be a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
Who else loves the Olympic Games? Have you ever been?
