Deric vs. Art

You could call my "Deric vs. Art" Instagram series something of a cultural phenomenon. Kidding. It's nothing of the sort, but I seriously love doing it! If you've followed along from the beginning then you might remember that it all started at the Louvre.

  ROUND 1: THE LOUVRE

ROUND 1: THE LOUVRE

The photo itself is pretty funny, but the story behind it is even funnier. In preparation for that picture I'd set my museum map on the Sphynx to adjust my dorky headphones. At the time I didn't even realize I was basically committing the equivalent of museum vandalism. Sure enough, some Louvre employee came roaring down the hallway screaming at me in French. I stood there with my hands and eyebrows raised in a confused look while I tried to decipher what she was saying. After some frantic pointing and some help from Elizabeth, I realized what I'd done. They certainly don't play around when they say "Do Not Touch."

For those museum curators out there, I promise I've learned my lesson and it won't happen again. In an effort to improve my appreciation for art, I've decided to continue my impersonations across the world. My quest has turned into an epic Instagram challenge featuring art from London, the Royal Caribbean and even Australia!

  ROUND 3: ROYAL BOTANICAL GARDENS

ROUND 3: ROYAL BOTANICAL GARDENS

Not only has my "Deric vs. Art" art challenge given me a greater appreciation for the arts, but it's challenged me to visit places I wouldn't normally in the past. I make it a priority to visit at least one museum or art exhibit on every trip so I can continue my work.

All-In-All

I hope you enjoyed the back story behind my obnoxious "Deric vs. Art" Instagram posts. After my run-in with the Louvre employee I can definitely say I've turned my life around. If there's one thing we can all take away from this, it's do NOT touch the art.

Any suggestions for future "Deric vs. Art" posts?
