They say New York isn't a cheap place to visit and they aren't lying. I've spent the past couple of weeks crunching the numbers on different hotels across the city trying to find the best deal. With so many hotels to choose from it's hard to be sure you're making the best choice.
This is going to sound insane, but I ended up booking three nights at The New York EDITION for $545 a night. Now here's where it gets good. Since I booked my room through American Express' Fine Hotels and Resorts program, which I get through my Platinum Card, I qualified for their complimentary third night.
After the discount my grand total doesn't look so bad at $1,090. I also get a $100 food and beverage credit and free breakfast for two through the FH&R booking so that saves me at least another $200. Once you factor in all of the discounts and perks it brings my total down to $890 or $296/night. Not too shabby for a five star hotel in New York City.
I'll be the first to say I ended up splurging a little bit on this booking. Since this trip was a birthday surprise for Elizabeth I figured I'd spend a little extra to make our visit special. I've read a few mixed reviews of this hotel so we'll see what my experience is like.
Who else has stayed at The New York EDITION? What are your thoughts?
